The Olive Shade Apartment is a two-room residence located in the historical center of Kyiv, Ukraine, which has been placed for long-term rental. The landlord wanted a minimalistic interior with a vibrant atmosphere that would attract a young family and add value to the rental property. With 85 sq. m of space, the apartment includes 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a laundry room. The hallway has ample built-in storage and leads to a living room. The main task for the design bureau in this interior project was proper space zoning, including creating a division between the living room and open plan kitchen.
The interior design by Design Buro Odintsova features a calm natural color palette of dusty olive, light grey and taupe, which works well with light beige wooden finishes. Sustainable materials such as cotton for upholstery, curtains, wool tapestry and natural stone for bathroom flooring were also used.
In the living room, a round mirror with a geometric pattern serves as a vibrant accent point, and this decor technique was also applied in the bedroom with light grey wallpaper featuring repeating geometric patterns. The interior features simple and clear forms with laconic details and lighting from Swedish design brands such as NordLux and Markslojd. Furniture was sourced from Jysk, Ikea and a few Ukrainian furniture factories.
