This project by Bruno Kim Arquitetura involved a newly-built apartment in Moema, Brazil that required a redesign of the initial layout. The client and designer decided to remove walls to create a more open and flexible living space. The new design includes a single, wide area for all uses including sleeping, cooking, entertaining guests, working, and relaxing.

The bedroom area has a curtain closure for privacy and light control, while appliances have been built into the joinery for aesthetic clarity. A family heirloom dining table serves as an extension of the island and allows for better coexistence between guests and residents. The bedside tables have also been designed to be integrated into the cabinets to make better use of the restricted space.

It’s important to note that everyone’s needs and preferences are different. Some may prefer to have separate, defined spaces for different activities, while others may be more comfortable with a more open and flexible layout. It’s up to the individual or couple to decide what works best for them based on their own needs and preferences.
